10 Ft. Ganja Plant Bio/Wiki 2017
Hailing from upstate NY, surely one of the most unlikely locales for a geniune reggae action, 10 Ft. Ganja Vegetable are a secret origins and dub collective and splinter band of the better-known Ithaca, NY-based eight-piece John Brown’s Body. Known for impromptu – hardly ever announced or advertised – concert events that add a loose, improvisatory jam music group experience, the group garnered some renown in the Northeast U.S. live music circuit through the entire 2000s. 10 Feet. Ganja Vegetable debuted in 2000 using the individually released Presents, a far more dub-flavored, instrumental affair than anything released by their mother or father group. ROIR, no stranger to traditional dub and reggae, authorized the music group in 2001, liberating their follow-up, Hillside Airstrip. The group soldiered on with three even more produces for ROIR – Midnight Getting (2003), Bass Chalice (2005), and Bushrock (2009) – that exposed affects and echoes of ’70s origins, through the close vocal harmonies from the Meditations towards the dark, bass-heavy productions of Dark Ark-era Lee “Scuff” Perry.
