She got the part of Maggie O’Connell on the hit television series Northern Visibility, which earned her an Emmy nomination in 1993, and back-to-back Golden Globe nominations from 1992 through 1994. She appeared in the action film Cliffhanger opposite Sylvester Stallone. Then in 2004, she composed and directed the movie Trip in a Summer Dress. In 2006, Turner was named a part of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Engagement. In 2008, she released a novel,Holding Her Head High: Inspiration from 12 Single Mothers Who Championed Their Kids and Altered History. The exact same year, she played the character of Katie McCoy within an eight episode run on the NBC television series Friday Night Lights. Afterward, she and her daughter Juliette founded an organization called Establishing America. They plan to educate Americans about the U.S. Constitution. She’s a daughter, but never wed, though she was once engaged to Alec Baldwin.
