During college he launched his entertainment career at Boeing Motion Picture/Television studios where he worked as a producer and narrator of marketing videos. Probst’s path to success was steady and focused. In 1994 Probst became the host of FX network’s Backchat, and then scored the main gig on Sound FX, a series about parenting, relationship and medicine. The gigs piled on as Probst moved over to host the VH1 series Rock & Roll Jeopardy! from 1998 to 2001. In the meantime he was a correspondent for the syndicated program Access Hollywood. In 2000 Probst struck the motherload by becoming the host of Survivor, one of the most popular reality shows ever produced. He soon became a cultural icon and in 2001 was named one of the “50 Most Beautiful People” by People magazine. His appearances on Celebrity Jeopardy in 2001 and 2003 solidified his iconic status.
In 2001 Probst set his sights on the big screen by writing and directing Finder’s Fee from LionsGate. A-list actors such as Ryan Reynolds, James Earl Jones and Robert Forster starred in the film. Probst took the daytime talk show plunge for CBS in September 2012 but didn’t come up for air after poor ratings quickly sunk the show. Also that year Probst joined the Adult Swim family by hosting the series “The Greatest Event in Television History”. With all of his success, Probst’s estimated net worth exceeds $40 million. Each episode of Survivor puts approximately $200,000 in Probst’s pocket.
