Tony Gwynn is a former American baseball player that has an estimated net worth of $38.8 million. Tony Gwynn’s career began when he received a sports scholarship in the San Diego State University. During his freshman year in the institution, he had a short stint playing basketball, and then he joined the Aztecs baseball team in 1979. He became designated hitter and named as a two time All American outfielder. During the 1981 Major League Baseball Draft, he was chosen by the San Diego Padres as the next round, 58th overall pick. While with the team, he earned most valuable player honours and recorded.331 with 12 homers and 17 stolen bases in 42 matches. During his first year with Padres, Gwynn began playing as center field but put in disabled list because of wrist injury. During his whole stint with all the team, Padres clinched the National League — West title in 1984. Gwynn hailed as 5-time Gold Glove Award, 7-time Silver Slugger Award, as well as a receiver of Roberto Clemente Award in 1999. He declared his retirement on June 28, 2001. He’s married to Alicia and has 2 kids. On June 16, 2014, he died in the age of 54 at Pomerado Hospital, Poway, California.
