Vocalist/songwriter/guitarist William Show was created and raised in southern California. His family members had a pastime in gospel music, and his dad, a minister, trained him to try out guitar. At university, he researched music business while composing tracks and playing electric guitar. He became a member of the Orange State alt-rock music group Something Commercial in 2001. In Oct of that season, the group released its debut EP, Audioboxer, for the Drive-Thru label, accompanied by their major-label debut record, Departing Through the Home window, on MCA in-may 2002; the disk reached amount 101 in the Billboard 200. Their second record, North, debuted at amount 24 following its discharge in Oct 2003. Something Commercial was primarily a car for lead vocalist/pianist Andrew McMahon, who got almost all the songwriting credits, with Inform limited to a subsidiary function, playing electric guitar and providing history vocals.
